Abstract :
The discontinuity between two planar dielectric waveguides is examined on the basis of an integral-equation formulation. The aperture field is approximated by a finite set of discrete modes, characteristic of the region Z<0. Results are presented for the launching efficiency and reflection at the junction between a solid-state heterojunction laser and an optical waveguide.
