Abstract :
A simple and novel structure of a tapered slotline antenna with a synthesised radiation pattern is proposed. By means of a non-symmetric taper profile with corrugated edges and a backed plate, a special vertical pattern for a base station of mobile communication is performed. The measurement pattern of a scaled sample at 10 GHz possesses 4° beam tilting, suppressed sidelobe (-19.9 dB) in the upper side and filling in the lower side of the vertical pattern;65° HPBW in the horizontal pattern; and 11.7 dBi of gain. The frequency coverage for VSWR < 2:1 exceeded 3:1 (5.56-16.8) GHz.
