Abstract :
The role of Ferranti Ltd. in the developing computer industry in the Manchester area is examined. The performance of the Ferranti firm once it entered into computer manufacturing and the reasons for the company´s failure in that industry are discussed. The firm is compared with others attempting to enter the field at the same time.<>
