Abstract :
A novel theory for finding the optimum pulse waveform for data transmission is presented. It leads to a finite-duration pulse with zero intersymbol interference and maximum energy concentration in a given bandwidth. The synthesised pulse is piecewise linear rather than the staircase pulse previously discussed in the literature.
