Abstract
The paper reviews the various courses offered by universities which combine engineering with management/business studies in various proportions, according to their objectives, and at the three levels of undergraduate, postgraduate and postexperience. A Section on research and research training is included since the interaction between research and teaching is no less vital in this than in more established subject areas. Moreover, the needs of industry and the nature of this form of interdisciplinary research place considerable demands on students, supervisors and research teams. Finally, some general conclusions are offered with respect to the roles and attitudes of the universities, industry and government.
