Abstract :
For more than a decade, the transmission of digital data as part of the television signal has been a subject of study and development by the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA). This interest can be traced beyond the first experimental ORACLE transmissions, using a Honeywell DDP-516 mini-computer together with some special interfacing hardware in April 1973, back to the insertion of ´in-house´ data on unused television lines in the field interval by an equipment known as SLICE.
