It has become generally accepted that we have a duty to future generations to conserve resources and reduce pollution. In addition, the contribution carbon dioxide makes to global warming has been recognised and hence there is a drive to reduce CO2 emissions. The author describes how, in the field of power generation many environmental objectives can be met by the use of sources of energy which are classified as renewable
