  • Abstract
There is no doubt that unemployment has become an issue of international political concern and a spectre which haunts the home and workplace of people throughout the industrial world. Here, the author describes how he believes that the engineering industry can play a part towards securing full employment by: working to enlarge the manufacturing sector of the UK economy; firmly holding down salaries and wages at all levels in the industry within a national wages and prices policy; and striving for a new understanding of the place of work in UK society and within Europe
