Abstract
A modified form of a microstrip circular patch antenna is presented by slightly depressing the patch configuration conically into the substrate. The theoretical analysis predicts the bandwidth of such an antenna to be much higher than that of an identical circular patch antenna with little change in the resonant frequency. The theoretical findings are supported by experimental observations. Theoretical and observed radiation patterns of practical antennas are also presented.
