Abstract :
This paper studies the effect of variation of magnetic and physical parameters on the time needed to change a magnetic toroid from a condition of residual flux density to the opposite condition of saturation flux density. The method of measurement is described, and the experimental results given. These results are compared with results predicted from a solution of the magnetic skin-effect equation. Curves are given which show the variation of switching time with applied magnetic field strength. An equivalent circuit is proposed which dissipates the same amount of energy as the core does during its switching time.
