Abstract :
Any signal generator designed for a wide and varied market must eventually be a compromise between conflicting demands. This paper describes the design opportunities avilable to the test-equipment designer when producing a state-of-the-art synthesiser. The designs described involve frequencies up to 26.5 GHz, but information on how the designs may be extended to millimetric frequencies is also included.
