Abstract :
The near-field and the far-field patterns from the high-gain S band antenna an the METEOSAT are calculated by the geometrical theory of diffraction. The far field is transformed into the near field through an expansion in spherical harmonics. The resulting transformed field agrees well with the g.t.d. near field.
