Abstract :
A source-encoding scheme for reducing the 2-dimensional redundancy of facsimile pictures is presented. Each scanning line is decomposed into two subsequences in which a great part of the interline correlation is eliminated. These are then compressed separately with 1-dimensional run-length codes.
