Irrelevant shifts of black--white transitions for efficient run-length coding of graphics

For more efficient run length coding of 2-level images, a code is described in which some run lengths have been eliminated, in order to allow a higher run-length count with a given codeword length. This causes irrelevant 1 pel shifts of the black--white transitions in the processed picture.
