Abstract
Points where jumps in relative degree occur are presented as singularities in the vector field of the internal dynamics of systems that are candidates for input-output linearization via nonlinear feedback. For a certain class of vector fields, it is shown that the point at which the relative degree is weak can be transformed to a saddle equilibrium point at the origin
