Abstract
A systematic and easy-to-apply method that allows a software designer to write a high-level model in a form that closely resembles a mathematical description is presented. This method can also be applied to the definition of piecewise defined functions and new element types. After explaining the principles of the method, the authors give a simple example of the design procedure as applied to an acceleration sensor used in an airbag control system.<>
