Abstract :
Consideration is given to the switching model of arc root initiation on oxide-coated cold cathodes, in the light of recent site emission lifetime measurements of Guile et al. From the estimates of the total switching times, it is suggested that the switching model is consistent with the lifetime measurements, strengthening the data presented in a previous publication.
