Abstract :
Digital synchronisation in the repeaters of the Cambridge ring is achieved through the use of phase-locked loops. A practical solution to the resulting problem of frequency stability, based on the dynamic adjustment of ring length, is presented. A repeater which implements this solution has been built and tested in the Cambridge ring.
