Abstract
A 5 W CW single transverse mode neodymium-doped fibre laser operating in the 1.06 mu m region is reported. The silica-based double clad fibre laser routinely achieves 51% slope efficiency when pumped at 807 nm by a fibre-coupled multimode laser diode bar pump source.<>
