Abstract
A novel current sensor which determines the currents flowing in an inverter driven induction motor from observations of the pulse currents existing in the DC busbar of the PWM inverter is described. The sensor can determine the real part of the current, and, if the motor is supplying mechanical power, the current magnitude. It is low cost and easy to implement, and experimental results show good accuracy over a range of operating conditions.
