Abstract
The paper presents a coupled `local¿¿ mode approach for the analysis of cross-polarisation coupling in curved dielectric rib waveguides at optical wavelengths. The effect of radius of curvature and the influence of the cross-section geometry of the bends on the coupling are also investigated.
