Abstract :
Signal and coefficient norm-scaling to avoid autonomous overflow oscillations in digital filters has been discussed by Jackson. Simple expressions for the L¿-norms of the state variables of bilinear digital filters are given here for engineering applications. The canonical direct form and the cross-coupled minimum-norm realisations are considered.
