Abstract
The progress achieved to date of a joint IGC-GE program for developing a practical multifilamentary Nb3 Sn superconductor for use in a superconducting generator is described. The cable approach for producing a Nb3 Sn conductor is evaluated, and the results of bend and tensile tests for various cables are presented. Fabrication methods for producing long lengths of multifilamentary Nb3 Sn superconductor are discussed, and test data for several small coils are presented.
