Abstract
Andre´ Blondel was born in Chaumont on 26 August 1863. Graduating first in his class at the E´cole des Ponts et Chausse´es (School of Bridges and Roadways) in 1888, he was employed as an engineer by the Lighthouses and Beacons service. This paper discusses Andre´ Blondel´s research works and experiments in electric arc phenomenon, electrical power systems, electromechanical systems, telegraphy and wireless telephony, optics, photometry, and acoustics.
