Abstract
It is shown that for practical power system applications the amount of network reduction to be performed is a function of both the topology of the network and the impedance of the equivalent branches. It is also shown that it is not sufficient to consider only the topological characteristics of the network to be equivalized in deciding about the nodes that should be eliminated.
