Abstract
In the beginning of 1960s, serious attention was paid to the nuclear electromagnetic pulse. This was later extended to conventional high-power electromagnetic sources/antennas. This paper reviews the history in which I played a central part, discussing the major programs, events, and players. The IEEE Transactions On Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) was one of the major fora for bringing this technology to the more general scientific/engineering EMC community.
