  • Abstract
Optical fibers and associated guided-wave optical components are being considered for application in military environments. Applications can be divided into two general categories. One class is comprised of militarized telecommunications systems while the other is composed of systems which employ fibers and associated components in novel ways such as for sensing and data processing. Examples of both classes of systems are treated in the text.
