Abstract
The authors report on a new method using a delayed self-homodyne set-up to determine the frequency response of a photoreceiver. The laser diode used here must not be calibrated. This method turns out to be very exact and easy to realise. It uses the frequency modulation of the laser diode with low modulation frequencies and large frequency deviations to produce a well-defined (nearly white) optical power spectrum, and this power spectrum is detected by the photoreceiver with the delayed self-homodyne set-up.
