Abstract
This authors present an enhanced retransmission loss-recovery algorithm based on the XOR selective repeated protocol for reliable multicast delivery. The operation of XOR minimises the number of packets requiring retransmission, reduces network burden, and increases throughput. Furthermore, the analysis presented here provides a basis for selecting a suitable loss-packet size for retransmission to increase throughput while reducing network cost. The expected processing time for successful packet delivery from the sender to all of the receivers is assessed here, accompanied by some interesting findings regarding the effects of the key system parameters on the performance measures.
