Abstract :
Bistable switching and negative differential resistance without instability are shown to occur in thin epitaxial diodes with coplanar contacts and anode-surface metallic loading. For cathode loading, it gives way to current saturation. Such effects appear to be directly related to the structure of the sample and to its thickness.
