The initial buildup process for three different paramagnetic particle slurries (Mn
2P
2O
7, Mn
2O
3, and Cr
2O
3) on a single wire is studied for parallel stream type HGMS. It is found experimentally that the accumulation radius R
aas a function of time

is expressed by the equation

. The exponent

and the coefficient

depend on the slurry concentration as well as the magnetic field. The value of

varies from about 3 to 4. These results are shown to be consistent with a model which takes into account the drag coefficient for the wide range of Reynolds numbers encountered here.
