Abstract
The thermostructural response of an electric contact having planar type defects at the brazed interface was investigated using a finite element model. The results of the analysis have indicated that the presence of a defect alters the temperature field. This perturbation of the temperature by the defect produces localized stresses that can affect the life of the contactor.
