  • Abstract
The highly automated cockpits designed for the latest generation of new aircraft are making the planes safer and cheaper to fly, but misunderstandings between computers and pilots have been implicated in a number of accidents. The author describes the features and benefits of flight deck automation and then discusses the problems caused by pilot errors when using the computerised systems. The results of the studies on the human factors aspects of the ´glass cockpit´ are discussed
