Abstract
The reigning display technology for more than a century, the cathode ray tube has entered its terminal decline. As a display device, the CRT served for decades as our looking glass into the virtual world of entertainment and computing, changing our aesthetics and the future of display technology. As computers became smaller and more portable, laptop PCs needed displays with low-power requirements. The LCD, already successfully applied to calculators and printers, offered an obvious solution
