Abstract
Spatial amplitude modulation (SAM) is proposed as an alternative to spatial phase modulation (SPM) techniques currently emplayed in most ultrasonic imaging systems. A simple implementation of a SAM-based imaging system using an optoacoustic transducer (OAT) is presented.
