Abstract
The IBM PCjr is the most recent addition to the IBM Personal Computer family. A major design consideration incorporated in the PCjr is a high level of program compatibility with the IBM Personal Computer and the IBM Personal Computer XT. The first part of this article describes the PCjr´s hardware architecture, characteristics, and features. The second part describes the portion of the system design relating to the hardware and software necessary to ensure a high level of compatibility between the PCjr and the IBM Personal Computer as well as the IBM Personal Computer XT.
