Abstract
The letter is about the space-time characteristics of very light rain occurring for percentages of time greater than some 1% of the year. This is able to impair those satellite communication systems where the radiopropagation fade margins are lowered mostly because of economic effectiveness. Statistics of low-rate rainfalls are obtained and analysed for 20 locations in Italy for ten consecutive years.
