Abstract
The theory of forces and torques on current circuits of arbitrary shape placed in nonuniform magnetic fields is briefly reviewed. Exact expressions for forces and torques are derived based on the principle of virtual displacement, and the results are expressed in terms of magnetic dipole moment of the loop
