  • Abstract
    A fixed-head VTR with an endless tape, wound in a unique fixed-reel cartridge, has been developed. The fixed reel has realized a stable high speed tape travel in the fixed-head VTR, resulting in small jitter and long tape life. The head is elevated by a stepping motor at the end of each tape pass, in order to make a continuous one hour recording on 220 tracks parallel to the tape direction. The VTR has several advantages over a rotating-head VTR.
