Abstract
Utility supply operational characteristics are used to reveal the possible significant differences between theoretical and actual reliability indices when component failures and restoration activities are not independent. A customized simulation model is described for assessing the reliability indices of an industrial substation configuration as a function of calendar time based on the historical utility supply data and an industrial substation´s operational configurations, loading patterns, and restoration activities dependent on the severity of the power interruption. The simulation model was applied to a radial industrial substation configuration. The historical reliability performance of the utility-industrial customer is considered as it relates to the theoretical expectations and changing utility and industrial facility operational characteristics
