Abstract
Combination of ferrofluids and liquid crystals has been possible using a nematic lyotropic phase which is an aqueous micellar system and a water base ferrofluid. A stable product results which can be oriented in magnetic fields of several Gauss, i.e. 103times lower than for the initial liquid crystal. Cholesterization has been possible on the same material.
