Abstract :
Experimental data are presented concerning the physical mechanism of the electromagnetically induced macroscopic rotation of ferrofluids. The rotating velocity distributions, determined using a DISA anemometer equipment and a tensometric transducer system, showed a very different behaviour of ferrofluids in a low frequency (0 + 10 Hz) rotating magnetic field in comparison with that observed in the higher frequency region ( >15 Hz). The data are compared with other experimental and theoretical results.
