  • Abstract
    A vector expression is derived for the magnetostatic field from a straight-line current element of finite length and infinitesimal cross-sectional area. This expression is useful in calculating the field from a current element of general direction because it is independent of coordinate system and easily evaluated from the geometry of a problem.
