Abstract
Various transformer core materials have been characterized in order to evaluate their potentialities for fabrication of electronic transformers capable of operating at elevated temperatures. Temperature and annealing time dependence of pertinent magnetic parameters such as saturation flux density, Bs , permeability, μ, and hysteresis loss, Wh , are reported here. Based on these investigations transformers employing Deltamax and 2V Permendur core materials have been built and they perform well at high temperatures. The maximum operating temperature for 2V Permendur transformers is about 500°C whereas for Deltamax transformers it is about 360°C.
