  • Abstract
    The letter describes the problems which occurred in the course of the implementation of an experimental optical transmission system which operates at a bit rate of 2.24 Gbit/s over 21 km of single-mode fibre with commercially available optoelectronic components. The laser wavelength is 1.3 ¿m.
