Abstract :
A new procedure is described for optimum phased-array synthesis. The synthesis is optimized by a simulated annealing process in which the energy function is directly related to the far-field intensity of a phased array. Numerical simulation results are presented. A possible optical-digital hybrid implementation that can perform the required computation at higher speed than a pure digital implementation is discussed.
