Abstract
A short introduction to the control aspects of therapeutic drug delivery is presented. Intrinsic feedback control mechanisms that occur in most therapeutic situations are discussed. The application of control engineering methods in open-loop drug delivery, which uses mathematical models of the dose-effect relationship of the drugs, together with parameters identified from population statistics, is examined.<>
