Abstract :
Using a novel microstrip line employing periodically perforated ground metal (PPGM), a highly miniaturised ratrace with a low port impedance of 10.6 Ω was developed for K/Ka band monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) applications. Its size was 0.375 mm2 on GaAs substrate, which was 9.3% of the one fabricated by conventional microstrip line. The ratrace exhibited good RF performance from 20 to 30 GHz.
