Abstract
A system for locking two semiconductor lasers in phase has been devised. It consisted of heterodyning two GaAlAs laser diodes and comparing the phase of the beat frequency signal with the phase of a reference RF local oscillator. The resulting phase error was used as a feedback signal and current fed back to the local oscillator laser to lock the two lasers in phase.
