Abstract
The application of ceramics (like e.g. water glass with talcum powder) as filling material for superconducting magnets is described. This wet winding technique has been developed for the construction of Nb3 Sn magnets from filamentary wire. It may be used as well in case of NbTi coils. The properties of first winding dummies and of prototype coils are reported. The results are discussed with respect to the coefficients of thermal expansion of the filling material.
